THE PROBLEM

With the evolution of man, the humanity has been in the obligation to adopt and develop methods and technological tools to satisfaction their needs and lifestyle, through the use of renewable energy (gas, oil, coal, among other ) and contamination, without considering the consequences and effects that lead to the planet.

At present these resources are being depleted due to the exploitation of fossil energy, creating an imbalance in the existing materials, which is why the energies of the future should be aimed at preserving the ecosystem, these should be low-impact environmental and renewable such energy, also called organic, is produced by harnessing natural energy processes, such as the strength of the sun, wind, water, characterized by not producing waste and pollution because they are inexhaustible.

ENGINEERING SOLUTION

To produce electricity without polluting the planet, should take advantage of wind energy, namely wind, which used the principle of the mills, to understand the operation of mills, it is necessary to consider the parts that make up :
Wind turbine is a mechanical device that converts wind energy into electricity. Wind turbines are designed to convert the energy of wind movement (kinetic energy) into mechanical energy, motion of a shaft. Then in the turbine generators, the mechanical energy is converted into electricity. The electricity generated can be stored in batteries or used directly.

Rotor: The rotor blades are designed to rotate with the wind moving the turbine generator. Modern wind turbines for large-scale typically are equipped with rotor blades with three extensions of 42 to 80 meters (138 to 262 feet) in diameter.
Gearbox: used to increase the frequency of electricity production.
Generator: generates electricity when there is sufficient wind to rotate blades. The electricity is transferred to the next stage using the wiring (for storage, sent to the network or for direct use). Turbines generally contain large-scale generators with capacities between 600 kW and 2 MW.

Tower raises the turbine assembly of the turbulent currents of air near the ground and can capture a higher wind speed. The tower design is particularly critical, because they must be as high as is economically possible (usually between 40 and 100 meters), must also be robust, allowing access to the turbine for maintenance, but not to add unnecessary cost to the system. A particularly important aspect of the design of towers is the elimination of resonance between the frequencies of the rotating blades and the resonance frequency of the tower.

It is important to note that this type of green technology can take home. Through the installation of wind turbines so small that they can be placed on the roof of a house and needed only two wind kilometers per hour to produce electricity.

One of the most amazing projects in modern engineering is a skyscraper built in the city of Dubai, the architect David Fisher has designed the Twirling Tower, a building with a rotating revolutionary system that is capable of feeding on wind energy.

The tower is composed of different levels that rotate independently of a central axis. It is in this nucleus, where it is a large wind turbine (which can be seen from each floor) generated by wind energy. Thus, each floor can move under the direction of the wind to build as much wind energy as possible.
